Stratospheric Modelling & Chemical Weather

The Changing Atmosphere Infra-Red Tomography explorer (CAIRT) is one of the ESA Earth Explorer 11 candidates currently in Phase A to flight at the earliest in 2032. If selected, CAIRT will measure profiles of temperature and trace gases from 5 to 115 km at unprecedent spatial resolution in order to beter understand the coupling between the climate change, the atmospheric circulation and its composition. Within the previous Phase 0 and this Phase A, the stratospheric modelling group is conducting impact studies to evaluate the value of CAIRT observations to measure stratosphere-troposphere exchanges of ozone. More about CAIRT can be found at the official website.
